inZOI Development Roadmap
When inZOI entered Early Access on March 28, 2025 (after a brief public free demo), Krafton published a Development Roadmap covering the rest of that year. Almost all of it has now shipped — some of it late, some of it changed, and a few pieces not at all.
This page tracks both: what was promised for 2025 and what actually arrived, then what's known about 2026.

Where things stand in 2026
The 2025 roadmap was delivered across four major updates — v0.2.0 in June, v0.3.0 in August, v0.4.0 in October, and v0.5.0 in December.
Since then the cadence has changed. The February 2026 mini update came with an explicit statement of intent: the team's main focus is now "Fundamentals First" — improving the core of the game — with new content arriving in smaller increments alongside it, rather than in large themed drops.
Confirmed for 2026
- PlayStation 5. Announced August 13, 2025 for a 2026 release, with no date yet. An Xbox version is under consideration but not confirmed — see platforms and releases.
- Script mods. Postponed from December 2025, with the scripting language switched from Blueprint to Lua. No date has been committed to beyond "next year".
- Continued crime and business development. Both systems arrived in v0.5.0 explicitly flagged as early — the Crime skill caps at Level 5, trials don't yet cover traffic accidents, and more business presets are promised.
- Multitasking expansion. Shipped in v0.5.0 with a published list of known gaps, including autonomous multitasking and talking while cooking.
No full-year 2026 roadmap graphic has been published in the way the 2025 one was.
The 2025 roadmap: planned vs. delivered
| Update Period | Planned | What happened |
|---|---|---|
| May 2025 | ModKit launch, in-game cheats, adoption, relationship improvements, weight/muscle adjustments, Build/CAZ improvements | Slipped to June 13 (v0.2.0). Everything else shipped. |
| August 2025 | Free Island Getaway (Cahaya) DLC, Ghost Play, swimming and pools, motorcycles, vehicle personalisation, AI Build, freelancer jobs, parenting improvements | Shipped August 20 (v0.3.0) — plus Mac support, which wasn't on the roadmap. Ghost Play and AI Build both slipped to October. |
| September 2025 | Modding update: face and hair modding, architectural elements, interaction-based content | Moved to October, UI editor cut, then face mods pulled entirely. |
| October 2025 | Family Tree, hotkey customisation, Build Mode object resizing, new furniture, moving-homes UX, CAZ improvements | Shipped October 30 (v0.4.0) — but the update was dominated by playable ghosts, funerals, the mentality rework, and the 48-minute day, none of which were on the roadmap. Family Tree slipped to December. |
| December 2025 | Modding: most outfit types, interaction scripts, localisation tools. Plus Memory System, Move Cities, trait-based interaction responses, indoor temperature | Shipped December 23 (v0.5.0) with outfit modding, family trees, and trait-based conversations — but the headline features were businesses, crime, and trials. Localisation shipped early (October); script mods postponed to 2026. |
(All content released during Early Access, including the Island Getaway DLC, ModKit features, motorcycles, and vehicle personalisation, has been free for owners of the game.)

What was promised but hasn't arrived
Tracking the gaps honestly, since several roadmap items are now overdue:
- Memory System — Zois remembering past events and letting them shape future behaviour. Planned for December 2025; not in v0.5.0.
- Move Cities — permanently relocating a family between Dowon and Bliss Bay. Planned for December 2025; not shipped. Note that Cahaya was always a visit-only destination.
- Indoor Temperature — managing indoor climate independently of the season. Planned for December 2025; not shipped.
- Build Mode object resizing — planned for October 2025. Gizmo scaling was reworked in v0.4.0, but the roadmap's "adjust object size" feature wasn't announced as delivered.
- Freelancer jobs — planned for August 2025; not announced as shipped. See careers overview.
- Script mods — officially postponed to 2026.
- Face and makeup modding — repeatedly deferred, and now off the published schedule entirely.
Things that changed direction entirely
Two roadmap-era systems were reshaped rather than extended:
- Karma was largely removed. The 2025 roadmap treated Karma as a system to deepen, with crime and jail as its consequences. In v0.4.0 the Karma score, icons, report section, and Meow Store donuts were all removed, and Karma stopped determining who becomes a ghost. Crime did arrive — in v0.5.0 — but as its own Crime skill with arrests and trials, unconnected to any moral score.
- Ghost Play became a player choice. Originally framed as a consequence of dying with bad Karma, it shipped as an option offered to every Zoi at death, lasting three in-game days, with funerals attached.
Detailed breakdown of the original 2025 plan
Kept for reference — this is what was announced, in the form it was announced.
Update #1 (planned late May 2025, shipped June 13)
- Official ModKit launch via the Epic Games Store — outfit set and furniture modding, texture/mesh/FX/MetaSound support, Maya and Blender plugins, Unreal-based mod projects, CurseForge integration, and a data editing UI.
- Weight and muscle adjustment changes.
- In-game cheat codes beyond the original money cheat — see the cheats guide.
- Relationship improvements and an adoption system for expanding families.
- Build Mode and CAZ improvements, plus new furniture and outfits.
Update #2 (planned August 2025, shipped August 20)
- Free DLC: inZOI: Island Getaway — Cahaya, renamed from Kucingku, a travel destination rather than a place to live.
- Motorcycles and vehicle personalisation.
- Ghost Play — then described as playing Zois who died with bad Karma.
- Swimming and pools — confirmed on July 18, 2025.
- More Edit City resources, AI Build Mode, freelancer jobs, text message and skill improvements, parenting improvements.
- Karma enhancements, including crime content where Zois could be caught and jailed.
Update #3 (planned September 2025 — modding)
- Modding for character features (faces, hair), architectural elements (doors, fences, pillars, windows), and interaction-based content (conversations, voice lines, rewards, motions).
Update #4 (planned October 2025)
- Family Tree, hotkey customisation, Build Mode object resizing, new furniture, moving homes UX improvements, and further CAZ enhancements.
Update #5 (planned December 2025)
- Expanded ModKit — most outfit types, interaction script editing, localisation tools.
- Memory System — Zois remembering past events, replacing the earlier "Recording System".
- Move Cities — permanently relocating families between cities.
- Trait-based interaction responses, Build Mode and CAZ improvements, new outfits.
- Indoor Temperature — managing indoor climate independently of the weather.
Important considerations
- Roadmaps are plans, not promises. As the record above shows, dates and features shift regularly. Krafton has committed to announcing changes through official channels as they happen.
- Hotfixes continue between major updates — often weekly. Follow them in our news section.
- The goal through Early Access remains building toward a full 1.0 release, with no date announced.
Update history
- March 28, 2025 — the 2025 development roadmap was published alongside the Early Access launch.
- May 9, 2025 — a separate modding roadmap replaced the roadmap's general "Mod Updates" entries.
- May 23 and June 27, 2025 — the modding schedule was revised twice.
- August 13, 2025 — PS5 confirmed for 2026; Xbox left unconfirmed.
- October 23, 2025 — third modding revision: script mods moved to Lua and postponed to 2026.
- February 12, 2026 — the v0.6.0 mini update set out the "Fundamentals First" approach, shifting focus to core improvements with smaller incremental content updates.
