Next Engine Preview Ends — Unreal Engine 5.6 Patch Coming in April

inZOI Next Engine Preview end notice

The Next Engine Preview beta branch that opened on March 5 closes with the March 26 update. The inZOI team has shared what the testing found, and when the engine change actually lands.

Test results

The Unreal Engine 5.4 → 5.6 upgrade delivered confirmed improvements in stability, with positive results in reduced crashes and performance. The official patch is being prepared on the back of that data.

When it ships

April 2026 — the engine patch and a separate round of memory optimization are both scheduled for that month.

From the engine upgrade

  • Bug fixes from UE 5.6 applied, improving overall stability and reducing crashes.
  • Feature improvements that will produce performance gains for some players, depending on hardware.
  • Rendering improvements, particularly better reflection quality.

From memory optimization

The team is cleaning up unused resources. The stated payoff:

  • Fewer temporary frame drops and stuttering.
  • Less performance degradation during long play sessions — a specific, familiar complaint for a game people leave running for hours.
  • More stable behaviour across a wider range of hardware.

That last point matters given how demanding inZOI's system requirements are. If you skipped the beta branch, this is what's coming to the main branch next month.
