ModKit Roadmap Update: Script Mods Switch to Lua and Slip to 2026

The inZOI team has published another revision to its ModKit roadmap — and this one carries the biggest change yet: script mods are being rebuilt around Lua instead of Blueprint, and won't arrive in 2025 at all.

Revised inZOI ModKit roadmap chart

What's changing in the October update

  • Localisation mods move forward. Originally slated for December, they now ship with the October update.
  • Face mods are pulled out of it. Features related to face mods are no longer part of this update.

What's changing in December

  • Script mods change language. After internal review, the team is switching the scripting language for script mods from Blueprint to Lua.
  • All script mod features are postponed to next year. The team says these systems are complex and expandable enough that they want more time to make them feature complete, user-friendly, and properly documented.

The team apologised for the delay and said further schedule details would come separately.

Where this leaves the modding roadmap

This is the third schedule change to modding this year. The original 2025 modding roadmap laid out three waves — ModKit in May, character and architectural modding in September, and outfits, interaction scripts, and localisation tools in December. The first wave slipped to June, the second slipped to October and lost the UI editor, and now the December wave loses scripting entirely while gaining localisation.

Worth noting for anyone who's been waiting on scripting since the ModKit AMA: the language change is a genuine direction shift, not just a delay. Lua is a much more common choice for game modding than Blueprint, so the wait may be worth it — but nothing has been committed to a date beyond "next year".
