Kjun's latest letter answers the question players have been asking since Cahaya was announced: how does a resort city actually work when it has no jobs or schools? The answer is that you don't move there — you visit.
Cahaya is a destination, not a home
Cahaya is themed as an island getaway, and the team has built it to match: players will take short trips to the region while their Zois continue living in Dowon or Bliss Bay. Kjun framed it as an escape from the monotony of everyday life — a peaceful holiday retreat rather than a third place to settle.
That design choice explains the earlier decision to leave jobs and schools out entirely: a holiday destination doesn't need them.
Swimming is coming
The August update will introduce swimming, described as a key part of any vacation experience. It's a long-requested feature and the first confirmation it's actually landing.
Two simulation problems being worked on
Alongside Cahaya, the team is targeting two areas of feedback:
- Zois don't feel distinct enough. Players reported a lack of distinctive behaviour and traits between different Zois, so improvements are coming to make each Zoi's personality and preferences more pronounced.
- It's unclear what to do next. Kjun acknowledged that information about Zoi goals is buried deep in the UI, and that weak rewards make completing those goals feel underwhelming. The team is working to make the core gameplay loop clearer and more engaging, while still supporting varied playstyles.
A new way to give feedback
The team has launched a Brainstorm channel on Discord. Kjun described the Kjun's Letter format as "somewhat one-sided" and wants more interactive communication about development.
As a consequence, Kjun's Letters will no longer follow a regular schedule — they'll appear whenever the team has something to communicate, with the Brainstorm channel available for feedback at any time.
