inZOI Philandering Trait: The Cheating Trait Explained

Updated

inZOI Philandering Trait

Philandering was added in the v0.9.0 update on June 19, 2026, alongside its opposite number Single-Hearted. Krafton described the pair as covering "polarising romantic behaviours".

The timing is the interesting part. The same update that added a trait for straying also added real consequences for being caught at it.

What's confirmed

  • Added in v0.9.0, June 19, 2026.
  • Introduced as a pair with Single-Hearted for opposing romantic behaviour.
  • No existing trait was removed to make room, so this expands the roster rather than replacing anything.

Krafton hasn't published an effect table for either trait. For emotion tendencies and gauge modifiers, read the description on the Zoi Card in game rather than trusting a guess from us.

Cheating now has teeth

Read this before building a save around the trait. v0.9.0 changed what happens when infidelity is discovered:

  • Getting caught drops the romance score sharply.
  • The wronged partner approaches the cheating Zoi to confront them.
  • The cheater can attempt to talk their way back into some of the lost score.

That last point is where skill matters. Recovery conversations lean on Rhetoric, and the "Comfort" and "Soothe" interactions from October 2025 also scale with it.

Worth knowing alongside this: jealousy in inZOI has historically triggered when a married Zoi witnesses their spouse being romantic with someone else. Unmarried Zois can pursue several romances at once without the same fallout, which shapes how and when this trait becomes expensive.

How it interacts with other romance systems

The romance side of the game has grown considerably, and this trait sits on top of all of it:

  • Divorce, added in v0.3.0.
  • Ten rejection interactions that can shift relationship status, from v0.5.0, including "Talk Behind Spouse's Back" and "Say You Want a Divorce Jokingly".
  • "Break Off Engagement" by text, from v0.4.0.
  • Asking a spouse on a date, added in v0.7.0, which is the reconciliation side of the same coin.

Compared to Charmer

Charmer remains the documented romance specialist, with confirmed effects: builds romantic relationships easily, frequently feels Aflutter, and holds onto Sad far longer than other traits.

If you want a mechanically understood romance trait, Charmer is still the safer pick. Philandering is the roleplay choice, and a strong one, but you're working with less published information.

Getting it

Use the cheat console:

setTrait [ZoiID] [TraitID] [CharacteristicID] [CharacteristicID]

Run showZoiInfo true first for the Zoi ID.

Since June 2026, traits also drift on their own when a Zoi repeatedly acts against them, so a faithful Philandering Zoi may not stay one, and a serially unfaithful Zoi with another trait may drift into this.

  • Single-Hearted is the deliberate opposite, added in the same update.
  • Charmer is the documented romance specialist.
  • Socialite builds every relationship type easily, romance included.
