inZOI Volunteer Trait
Volunteer no longer exists in inZOI. It was removed on October 30, 2025 in the v0.4.0 update, and every Volunteer Zoi in every save was converted automatically.

The rest of this page is kept for reference, because plenty of guides and videos still describe Volunteer as though it exists.
The Volunteer no longer exists. It was removed in the v0.4.0 update on October 30, 2025, and every Volunteer Zoi was automatically converted to the new Recluse trait.
This is the most jarring of the three conversions. Volunteer was the game's most outgoing, altruistic personality, and Recluse is a withdrawn one. If your kind, community-minded Zoi came back from an update as a loner, that's what happened.
What happened
The October update merged the whole mentality system into one model covering traits, characteristics, ambitions and urges. Three traits were removed and three added.

The mapping is positional rather than thematic. Volunteer and Recluse have very little in common, so treat the conversion as a slot swap rather than an evolution of the character.

Effects

The slow Recognition drain was the standout, and it's genuinely missed. Recognition is the need that makes Zois run away from the household permanently when it empties, and Volunteer was the only trait that made it cheaper to maintain. Nothing in the current lineup replaces that.
What to pick instead
- Socialite is the closest thing to a replacement, building relationships with anyone easily and enjoying conversation. Our traits guide now recommends it wherever Volunteer used to be the answer.
- Mediator shares the universal relationship gain with a calmer temperament.
- Sentinel covers the responsible, family-minded side.
- Social Activist keeps the Big-Hearted and principled keywords.
Changing a converted Zoi
The setTrait cheat, added in the same update, moves a Zoi to any of the 18 current traits along with up to two characteristics:
setTrait [ZoiID] [TraitID] [CharacteristicID] [CharacteristicID]

Converted saves also got two randomly assigned characteristics, so check those at the same time.
Update history
- March 28, 2025. Early Access launched with Volunteer among the original 18 traits.
- October 30, 2025. v0.4.0 removed it, converted existing Zois to Recluse, and introduced characteristics and the
setTraitcheat. - December 23, 2025. v0.5.0 added the Workaholic characteristic, which cannot be combined with the Recluse trait. Worth knowing if you kept the conversion.
- June 19, 2026. v0.9.0 made traits drift naturally when behaviour contradicts them.
