A heads-up for outfit mod creators: a Character LOD3 change on June 18 can make older outfit mods look broken. The fix is straightforward, but it does require action.
What's changing
As part of a Character Optimization update aimed at improving animation performance on low-spec hardware, the bone information used for Character LOD3 is being updated on June 18, 2026.
What breaks
Outfit mods created or uploaded with an earlier ModKit version may show broken skinning when a character switches to LOD3 — that is, when the Zoi is far enough from the camera to drop to the lowest detail level.
The team is explicit: it's a visual compatibility issue where the outfit mesh looks wrong at LOD3. Nothing crashes.
What mod creators need to do
No manual rigging, weight painting, or LOD editing is required. The fix is mechanical:
- Update to the new ModKit version released on June 18.
- Open your existing outfit mod project in it.
- If a Save or Update notice appears, proceed.
- Re-upload the project to CurseForge.
- CurseForge Cloud Cooking runs automatically and applies the updated LOD3 compatibility information.
This is the second migration mod authors have had to run this year, after the Unreal Engine 5.6 CurseForge migration in April. See our mods guide for the wider picture.
