A week after the June update, Kjun has shared the team's plans for August — and with them, a name change. The third city previously announced as Kucingku is now called Cahaya.
What Cahaya is
"Cahaya" means light, and the city is built around the theme of rest: a resort destination away from the bustle of the existing cities. Kjun describes exotic islands offering farming, relaxing, boating, and exploring uninhabited islands.
The motivation is personal. Kjun wrote that while developing inZOI has been a source of great joy, there are times he feels the urge to get away from it all — and he wanted to build a retreat for players worn down by everyday life.
No jobs or schools — deliberately
The most consequential detail: Cahaya will not have jobs or schools at all. The team acknowledged substantial player feedback asking for career system improvements, but concluded those features didn't fit a resort-themed city.
Instead, Cahaya is built for a self-sufficient lifestyle through activities like farming and fishing. Job system improvements are pushed to the city update after this one.
Also in the August update
Alongside the new city, the team is working on more natural emotional expressions, improvements to the relationship system, and added depth to interactions — continuing themes from recent updates.
Kjun noted the team recently gathered feedback from Partner Creators over a video call, and encouraged players to keep sharing their own.
Where it will be revealed
inZOI is heading to gamescom in Germany again this year, where the August update and the Cahaya Free DLC will be officially revealed.
