Making Meow Fast: Early Game Money Tips for inZOI
Starting a new life in inZOI is exciting, but just like in the real world, your Zois need Meow (the in-game currency) to thrive. From buying essential furniture and paying bills to enjoying hobbies and social outings, money makes the virtual world go round. Earning Meow can feel slow initially, especially with low skills and basic equipment. This guide provides practical tips focused on making money effectively during the early stages of your inZOI journey.

Get a Job (The Standard Route)
The most reliable way to earn a steady income is through employment.
- How to Apply: Use your Zoi's Smartphone (
[P]key), open the Career app, browse listings under "Recruitment," check requirements, and hit "Apply." - Entry-Level Focus: Don't aim for the top immediately. Look for jobs with low entry barriers. Part-time jobs (like Deli Employee or Fast Food Employee) offer flexibility, while entry-level full-time positions (like Trainee Firefighter or basic Office Worker roles) might offer better long-term pay progression. For more on jobs, see the Jobs & Careers Guide.
- Active vs. Rabbit Hole:
- Active Jobs (where you follow your Zoi) require more engagement but can lead to faster promotions if you complete tasks diligently. Good early examples include convenience store or cafe roles.
- Rabbit Hole Jobs (Zoi disappears) require less micromanagement, freeing you up to control other Zois or activities, but promotions might be slower.
- Show Up & Perform: Ensure your Zoi goes to work on time (Autonomy usually handles this, or click the calendar icon). For Active Jobs, focus on completing tasks efficiently.

Early Creative Hustles
Even with low skills, your Zoi can create items to sell. The quality (and price) will increase as their skills improve.
- Painting: Buy an Easel (Build Mode > Hobby > Pictures). Even basic paintings sell for a small amount. Interact with the finished painting and choose "Sell on Pocket Market." See Art Skill Guide
- Writing: If you have a computer, your Zoi can start writing basic books (Critical Thinking skill). Click the computer when finished to sell the digital book instantly.
- Music: Purchase a basic instrument (like a guitar). At Instrument Level 2, Zois can compose basic jingles/folk songs on a computer and sell them instantly. See Instrument Skill Guide
- Programming: With a computer, low-level Programming skill allows creating simple Utility Apps or Puzzle Games, which can be sold instantly.
- Bonsai Shaping: This Gardening skill activity can be surprisingly profitable early on. Purchase a Bonsai Pot Stand and a tree, then use the "Shape Bonsai" interaction regularly. Sell the shaped bonsai via inventory or PocketMarket.
Resourceful Earning
Use the world around you!
- Fishing: Find a Fishing Spot (marked by a cooler bag near water) and use the "Catch Fish" interaction. You might catch valuable fish to sell directly, fillet for cooking, or find junk items that can still be sold.
- Flea Market / Selling Items: Did another Zoi gift you something you don't need? You can sell small items directly from your inventory or purchase a Second Hand Sale Stall (Build Mode > Furniture > Social Event > Flea Market Items). Place items on the stall using "Sell Secondhand" to earn Meow when other Zois buy them. This is good for decluttering and making a bit of extra cash.
Quick Cash (Less Reliable)
These methods can provide quick Meow but aren't guaranteed income streams.
- Lottery Tickets: Find a Lottery Stand (often in parks or shops) and buy tickets for 5 Meow each. Winnings are random but can range from small amounts to large jackpots. The Lucky Donut from the Meow Store helps — though v0.5.0 cut its effect from 1 day to 1 hour, so buy your tickets promptly. (The old Karma luck bonus no longer exists.)
The Ultimate Shortcut: Money Cheat
If you're struggling or just want to focus on building or storytelling without financial constraints:
- Open Psycat's Advice and turn on the Enable Cheats toggle.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + C to open the cheat console.
- Type
addMoney 500000and press Enter. Any amount works, and a negative number takes money away.
The old one-click "Use Money Cheat" button was retired in v0.2.0 — the console replaced it.
Sell What You Gather
Since v0.3.0, gathering is a genuine early-game income route:
- Fishing, farming, and mining all produce sellable goods. Gemstones can be cut into jewels at a crafting table for more value.
- Market stand — set one up and sell to customers directly.
- Resale Store — deliver crops, fish, and minerals. Prices change daily, so check before you deliver.
Bear in mind fishing, mining, and jewel crafting were flagged as new-game only at release.
General Early Game Financial Tips
- Budget Essentials First: Prioritize buying a bed, toilet, shower/tub, and a refrigerator. These are crucial for meeting basic needs.
- Start Simple: Don't splurge on expensive decor or high-end furniture immediately. Basic items function perfectly well early on.
- Cook at Home: Eating out or ordering delivery constantly drains Meow. Cooking meals at home using the refrigerator is much more cost-effective, especially simple recipes.
- Pay Attention to Bills: Utilities are a recurring expense. Ensure you have enough Meow set aside.
- Watch your loans. Since v0.4.0, overdue loans generate escalating text pressure and can become known to your family, friends, and acquaintances, damaging those relationships. You can repay early by phone or computer, and there's a "Side Job" rabbit hole specifically for raising repayment money.
- Track it in the Budget app. Added in v0.3.0; since v0.4.0 it shows total household assets.
- Property got cheaper. v0.5.0 cut prices on middle-class-and-above residential properties at 7 locations each in Dowon and Bliss Bay, and made walls, handrails, rooms, platforms, and roofs free to place in Build Mode — a real saving when starting out.
Earning your first Meow in inZOI can be part of the fun and challenge. By combining a job with a simple creative hustle or resourcefulness, you can quickly build up enough funds to establish a comfortable life for your Zoi and start exploring everything the game has to offer. Good luck!
