Jobs provide the essential Meow needed for living expenses, contribute towards fulfilling Ambitions, help develop crucial Skills, and offer unique gameplay experiences and storylines. Whether your Zoi dreams of K-Pop stardom, corporate leadership, or saving lives as a firefighter, understanding the career system is key.
This guide covers how to find and apply for jobs, the different types of work available, and how your Zois can climb the career ladder.

Finding and Applying for a Job
Getting your Zoi employed is handled conveniently through their smartphone:
- Open Smartphone: Access the phone interface by pressing
[P]
or clicking the purple phone icon next to the Zoi's portrait. - Navigate to Career App: Tap the Career app icon (often depicted with a briefcase).
- Browse Job Listings: Go to the Recruitment tab. Jobs are typically organized by the employing company/location and whether they are Full-Time or Part-Time.
- Review Job Details: Click on a specific job listing (e.g., "Rookie Trainee," "Secretary," "Cashier") to view important details:
- Salary: Daily wage in Meow.
- Schedule: Days and hours of work.
- Location/Gameplay Type: Indicates if it's an Active Job (On-site, requires direct participation) or a Rabbit Hole Job (Offsite, Zoi disappears during work).
- Eligibility: Required Age Group(s) (Most jobs are Young Adult+, but exceptions exist like Idol Trainee). Some jobs are exclusive to specific cities (Dowon or Bliss Bay).
- Vacancies: Shows available slots (though you can often still apply and displace an NPC if it shows '0').
- Apply: If the job suits your Zoi, click the Apply button.
- Confirmation: Your Zoi will usually receive a text message on their smartphone shortly after, confirming they got the job.
Understanding Job Types: Active vs. Rabbit Hole
inZOI offers two distinct ways to experience your Zoi's workday:
Active Jobs
- Gameplay: You physically follow your Zoi to their workplace (e.g., Adam Entertainment, AZ Convenience Store, Dowon Fire Station). You control them directly during their shift.
- Tasks: A Task List appears (usually top-left), showing specific actions to complete within set timeframes (e.g., "Practice Vocals 3 times within 3 Hours"). Completing these tasks efficiently is crucial for performance and promotion.
- Immersion: Offers a much more hands-on and immersive work experience. You actively manage your Zoi's actions, balancing work tasks with their Needs.
- Promotion Speed: Generally faster, often achievable within 3-4 workdays per level if tasks are consistently completed well.
Rabbit Hole Jobs
- Gameplay: Your Zoi travels off-screen (usually via taxi) to an unseen workplace. You cannot follow them or control them directly during work hours. These jobs are marked with a briefcase icon in the Career app.
- Tasks: A small pop-up menu appears next to the Zoi's portrait while they are "at work." You select work actions from this menu (e.g., "Draft Legal Document," "Analyze Market Data"). These contribute to performance but don't have strict time limits within the shift.
- Random Events: These jobs frequently trigger pop-up scenarios requiring player choices (e.g., dealing with a difficult client, handling an office mishap). Your choices impact performance, mood, or sometimes even Karma.
- Promotion Speed: Generally slower than Active Jobs. Due to potentially fewer workdays per week and less direct control over performance metrics, promotions might take 8-10 workdays (around 2-3 in-game weeks) per level. (Note: Early Access builds sometimes had bugs preventing promotion to the final tier in some Rabbit Hole careers).
Full-Time vs. Part-Time
- Full-Time: Typically offer higher salaries, more extensive promotion ladders (multiple levels), and usually require more workdays per week (often 3-5).
- Part-Time: Lower pay, often fewer or no promotion opportunities, but require fewer workdays (often 3), providing more free time for other activities.
Going to Work
- Automatic Departure: If a Zoi's Autonomy is enabled, they will usually head to work automatically about an hour before their shift starts.
- Manual Departure: If Autonomy is off, or if you want to send them early, a Calendar Icon will appear below their portrait near the shift start time. Clicking this gives the option to "Go to Work."
- Travel: Zois typically walk or use public transport (subway in Dowon, bus in Bliss Bay) for Active Jobs. For Rabbit Hole Jobs, they usually take a taxi.
Career Progression: Getting Promoted
Climbing the career ladder increases your Zoi's daily salary, unlocks new responsibilities (tasks), and sometimes grants perks or new interactions.
- Performance Meter: Progress towards the next job level is tracked by a career performance bar, visible in the Career app > My Career tab.
- Gaining Experience:
- Active Jobs: Primarily gained by successfully completing timed tasks. Having relevant skills leveled up might also contribute.
- Rabbit Hole Jobs: Gained by selecting work tasks from the pop-up menu and making positive choices during random events. Consistent attendance is key.
- Promotion Timing: When the performance bar is full, a promotion usually occurs automatically at the end of the workday. You'll receive a confirmation text message.
- Vacancy Requirement: Important! Sometimes, even with a full performance bar, your Zoi won't be promoted immediately. This often means there's no open slot (Vacancy) in the next position level within the city's Zoi population. The game usually notifies you if you're waiting for a vacancy. You'll need to keep working until an NPC Zoi retires, quits, or is displaced.
- Schedule Impact: Adjusting your work schedule in the Schedule app can affect promotions. Shortening work hours will likely slow or halt advancement. Sticking to the default schedule is usually best for optimal progression.
Leaving a Job: Resigning, Firing, and Retirement
Zois aren't tied to one career forever.
- Resigning: A Zoi can quit their job anytime via the Career app > My Career tab > Resign button. They become unemployed immediately, and all career progress is lost (though they can reapply later, starting from the bottom).
- Getting Fired: Accumulating 3 unexcused absences (missing work without canceling via the schedule or a valid reason like sickness) results in termination. A text message confirms the firing.
- Mandatory Retirement: Most careers have an age limit. Zois typically retire automatically upon reaching the Senior life stage. The Idol Trainee career has a unique retirement trigger upon aging up to Adult. Check the Eligibility Criteria in the job listing for details.
Factors Influencing Career Success
Beyond just showing up and doing tasks, other elements play a role:
- Skills: Many jobs benefit from or require specific skills (e.g., Performance for Idols, Fitness for Firefighters, Critical Thinking for Office Workers). Higher skills often lead to better task outcomes or faster experience gain.
- Moods/Emotions: Especially crucial for Active Jobs. Zois in positive or focused moods (Concentrated, Confident) perform better and faster. Negative moods (Uncomfortable, Bored, Sad) hinder performance and can lead to task failure.
- Traits & Desired Life: Certain personalities naturally align better with specific careers, potentially influencing autonomous choices or Urges related to work.
Future Career Developments
According to the development roadmap, Freelancer Jobs (like Author, Photographer, and more) are planned for the May 2025 update, offering more flexible work options. More careers may be added in subsequent updates or DLCs.
Navigating the diverse career landscape is a major part of shaping your Zoi's life story in inZOI. Choose wisely, work hard (or strategically!), and help your Zois achieve their professional dreams!
