inZOI Build Mode Lot Types Explained

The world of inZOI is structured around various Lots, which are distinct parcels of land or designated spaces within the cities where Zois live, work, and play. Understanding the different lot types is crucial for navigation, gameplay, and utilizing Build Mode effectively.

Each lot type serves a specific purpose and comes with its own set of rules regarding accessibility, ownership, and customization.

Identifying Lot Types on the Map

When viewing the City Map ([M] Key), lots are typically marked with distinct icons:

  • Blue House: Occupied Residential Lot (another family lives here)
  • Grey House: Unoccupied Residential Lot (empty, furnished or unfurnished house/apartment)
  • Grey Down-Arrow: Empty Residential Plot (bare land for building)
  • Green Tree: Community Lot (public space like parks, libraries, cafes)
  • Purple Building: Career Lot (workplace for Active Jobs)

(Note: Specific icons may vary slightly)

Main Lot Types

1. Residential Lots

These are the primary living spaces for your Zois and other families in the city.

  • Function: Where Zois live, sleep, eat, and satisfy most basic needs. Forms the base for household management.
  • Sub-Types:
    • Houses: Standalone structures on their own plot of land. Offer full exterior and interior customization.
    • Apartments: Units within larger multi-story buildings. Offer full interior customization and limited exterior customization (balconies).
    • Occupied: Currently inhabited by a pre-made or player-created family. You can visit but not move your active family in without evicting the current residents (which happens automatically if you choose to relocate your family there).
    • Unoccupied: Either an empty, pre-built house/apartment or an empty plot of land ready for construction. Available for purchase and moving into.
  • Customization: Fully customizable via Build Mode when it's your active household's home.
  • Cost: Have a purchase price (Meow) based on size, location, and existing structures/furnishings.

2. Community Lots

These are public spaces accessible to all Zois in the city, offering various activities and services.

  • Function: Provide locations for socializing, skill-building, fulfilling needs (e.g., eating at a cafe), attending events, and general recreation.
  • Examples: Parks (Central Park, Clover Park), Libraries (AR Library), Cafes (Cafe Gaon, Cafe Mar), Shops (Nook's Select Shop), Galleries (Lumiere Art Gallery), Banks (Narae Bank), Fortune Tellers (Oracle Fortune Teller), Beaches, Plazas (Nuri Plaza, Liberty Square), Temples (Ullim Temple).
  • Customization: Some community lots are designated as "(Editable)". Players can enter a limited version of Build Mode (Edit Public Property/Edit Street button, not the [I] key) to place objects, furniture, and landscaping items within these designated public areas, personalizing the community space. Editing these lots does not cost household funds.
  • Cost: Free to visit and use available interactions.

3. Career Lots

These are specific community lots that also serve as workplaces for Zois engaged in Active Careers.

  • Function: Function as both a visitable community lot and the physical location where Zois perform tasks for specific jobs. Players follow their Zois here during work hours.
  • Examples: Adam Entertainment (Idol Trainee, Planning Team), Dowon Fire Station (Firefighter), AZ Convenience Store (Convenience Store Employee), Bliss Bay Amusement Park (Park Worker/Office Staff), Mackenzie Furniture Store (Furniture Store Employee).
  • Customization: Generally not editable in the same way as residential or editable community lots, though some might overlap with editable public spaces.
  • Cost: Free to visit, but working there requires being employed in the associated career.

Other Location Types (Not Traditional Lots)

Rabbit Hole Locations

These aren't distinct lots you can visit or edit. They are locations associated with Rabbit Hole Jobs (e.g., Law Firms, Developer Studios, Military Bases, Newspaper Offices). When a Zoi goes to work for these careers, they simply travel off-screen and are unavailable until their shift ends. You interact with their work tasks via a UI pop-up, not by visiting a physical lot.

Unmarked Locations

Some named areas exist within the larger city map but lack a specific lot icon and cannot be fast-traveled to directly (e.g., Muscle Beach within the Bliss Bay beach area). These often contain interactable objects but aren't treated as separate, editable lots in Build Mode.

Understanding these different lot types helps you navigate the world, manage your Zois' lives, and utilize the creative potential of Build Mode within the structure of inZOI's cities.
