How Do I Get Married in inZOI?

Marriage is a significant life event for Zois in inZOI, marking a major step in relationships and opening up new gameplay possibilities like starting a family. If you're ready to tie the knot for your Zois, this guide will walk you through the entire process, from building the necessary relationship to planning the perfect wedding ceremony.

Step 1: Building the Romantic Foundation

Before any proposals can happen, your Zois need to develop a strong romantic bond.

  • Initiate Romance: Start by having your Zois interact frequently. Use friendly greetings initially, then move into Romance category interactions (found under "More" or sometimes suggested). Look for interactions with heart icons.
  • Reach "True Love": Consistent positive romantic interactions (flirting, deep conversations, compliments, successful dates) will increase the pink Love meter in the Relationships tab (R). You need to progress through levels like Mutual Crush and Sweetheart. The goal is to reach the highest level: True Love.
  • "Select Relationship" Conversations: Remember to perform the necessary "Select Relationship" interactions when prompted to officially advance to the next relationship level (e.g., confirm becoming Sweethearts or True Loves).

Step 2: The Proposal

Once two Zois have reached the True Love status, the option to propose becomes available.

  • Find the Interaction: Select one Zoi, click on their True Love partner, navigate to Romance interactions, and look for the "Ask Them to Marry You" option.
  • Timing and Mood: Proposing while both Zois are in a good mood (like Happy or Aflutter) increases the chance of success.
  • Success/Failure: If the proposal is accepted, both Zois will gain an "Engaged" status/moodlet, and new marriage-related options will appear. If rejected, the relationship meter will take a hit, and you'll need to build it back up before trying again.

Step 3: Getting Married - Two Options

After a successful proposal, you have two ways to make the marriage official:

Option A: Elope (Immediate Marriage)

  • Interaction: After engagement, an interaction like "Get Married" (or similar wording) might appear immediately when clicking on the fiancé(e).
  • Process: Selecting this option usually triggers a quick, private ceremony (often just a kiss or exchange of rings) between the two Zois, making the marriage official instantly without guests or a venue.

Option B: Plan a Wedding Event

This is the more elaborate and customizable option.

  1. Access Event Planning:
    • Via Smartphone: Open the Smartphone (P), go to the Events app, select an available time slot on the schedule, and choose Make Event. Select Wedding as the Event Type.
    • Via Interaction: Sometimes, after engagement, an interaction like "Plan Wedding Together" might appear when clicking the fiancé(e). This often leads directly to the event planning screen.
  2. Set Event Details:
    • Name: Give your wedding a title.
    • Duration: Set how long the event will last.
    • Location: Choose a venue. This can be a residential lot (like home) or a dedicated Outdoor Wedding Venue community lot available in the cities.
  3. Invite Guests & Assign Roles:
    • Click on Roles or Guests. Select Zois from the relationship panel to invite.
    • You might be able to assign specific roles (like Officiant, although this isn't fully confirmed for base game).
  4. Set Dress Code: Choose the desired attire for the couple and guests (e.g., Formal, Casual).
  5. Choose Actions (Optional): Recommend or prohibit specific activities during the event to guide guest behavior.
  6. Finalize: Confirm the details to schedule the wedding.

Step 4: The Wedding Ceremony (Planned Event)

If you planned a wedding event:

  • Travel: When the scheduled time arrives, you'll be prompted to travel to the wedding location with the engaged couple. Guests will arrive automatically.
  • Scripted Actions: An event checklist or "Scripted Actions" panel often appears. You can click "Play" for key moments like "Walk Down Aisle," "Exchange Vows," and "Exchange Rings" to happen semi-automatically, or manually direct the couple to perform these interactions.
  • Guest Interactions: Guests will mingle, eat, dance, or perform other allowed actions based on the venue and event settings.
  • Completion: Once the main ceremony interactions are complete (or the event timer runs out), the marriage is official. A notification usually confirms the union.

Step 5: After the Wedding - Moving In

Immediately after the marriage becomes official (either via elopement or the conclusion of a planned wedding), a crucial pop-up window appears:

  • Household Merge: You must choose where the newly married couple will live together.
    • Move into one spouse's existing home.
    • Move into the other spouse's existing home.
    • Move the couple (and potentially other selected family members from either original household) into a new home from the map.
  • Asset Transfer: You'll typically manage the transfer of household funds (Meow) during this process.

Important Considerations

  • Age Requirement: Zois must be Young Adult or older to get married.
  • Relationship Change: Upon marriage, the "Romance" relationship track between the spouses is replaced by the "Family" relationship track, starting at Neutral. They are now officially spouses.
  • Same-Sex Marriage: Yes, inZOI supports same-sex marriage. Zois can propose to and marry partners of the same gender, provided their romantic preferences align. However, natural pregnancy is currently limited to Male/Female couples in the base game. The upcoming Adoption system (planned for May 2025) will provide family-building options for all couples.
  • Divorce: Marriages aren't always forever. If the relationship sours significantly (often reaching "Distant" or lower on the Family track), the "Divorce" interaction will appear under the Conflict category.
  • Household Limits: Remember the 8-Zoi household limit. If merging households after marriage would exceed this limit, you'll need to move some Zois out during the relocation step.
